Central to the brief was the Abbey's desire to create an environmentally responsible solution that remains sensitive to its historic surroundings. The project comprises the demolition of existing workshop buildings and replacement with three clusters of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panel structures.
Engenuiti was appointed to undertake the timber engineering of the CLT panels including connection design. Working closely with the Architect we engineered the roof panels so that they acted as "hip" roofs thus removing the need for roof beams. We modelled the frame geometry in Sketch-Up indicating all the panel cut points and connections allowing the Architect to control the detailing process.
