Client: B&K Structures / Sheffield City Council

Architect: Leslie Jones Architecture

Gridshell Roof Area: 850 m2; Market Roof Area: 2600 m2

Status: Completed

Engineering Disciplines: Advanced Timber Engineering

Designed by Leslie Jones Architecture, the new Moor Market Hall in Sheffield comprises a “tree” supported grillage of beams for the market hall roof and curved timber grid shell structure which encloses the market hall entrance.

Working closely with B&K Structures and the testing facility in Austria, Engenuiti provided advanced timber engineering for the project and developed and supervised the testing procedure for the dowelled rod connections. The test capacity results were utilised in optimising the performance of the timber shell and refinement of the final roof frame design.
