Building work has started on site at the new Coventry Destination Water Park with the steel frame beginning to go up.
The multi-storey water park has above ground pools and a network of water slides hung from a circular roof spanning 56m. The steel frame enables the long spans and complex geometry of the building to be managed. It provides the stiffness required to ensure the water-tightness of the cast in situ pools which will be constructed on top of the composite metal deck slabs in the new year. The steel frame is being installed by two teams working with a pair of mobile cranes, working out of the bottom corner of this congested city centre site.
