Nirvana is a new build home in an isolated plot amongst farmland on the banks of the River Rother near Romney Marsh. The accommodation includes open plan living areas, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a boathouse and terraces that extend the space outdoors.
The house is raised up above the ground by a collection of concrete piers, allowing the flood plain below to function whilst also raising the outlook from the building to provide expansive views across the marsh.
The construction of timber cladding and the careful attention to detail allows the building to sensitively relate to its natural surroundings. The site is located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The design was praised by the Planning Authority, Building Control and was featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs East Sussex 2015 episode aired on 16th September 2015. To watch the episode visit Channel 4's Grand Designs.
